Season 16 Playoff Predictions
I feel like I start these the same way every season…
Season 16 is in the books!!! Thanks to everyone for another great season. With playoffs approaching, inquiring minds are eager to hear the CDL’s highly official (and totally bullshit) Playoff Predictions!!
After an entire career of mediocre picks, I was actually pretty accurate last season, correctly predicting most of the correct finalists and several correct winners. Don’t get used to it, in fact if you’ve been predicted to win you’ll need to be twice as resilient on Saturday to avoid the jinx.
Best of luck to all the teams!!
L is for Party Tier
Anytime Fitness Flingers (3) def. Team Edward (1)
Following a quick Google search, one would find the following as reasons to join Team Edward
- Because he’ll hold your drink for you when you need to use your hands, and he’ll keep it cold, too. Not to mention he can be your personal ice-pack when you have a Bella moment.
- He’ll whisper sweet nothings in your ear in many different languages as well as quote Romeo & Juliet verbatim..
- Jacob may run a 108° temperature but Edward’s still hotter

I don’t know if this information is relevant, but I do know that it’s extremely important. On the flip-side, Anytime Fitness Flingers are a new-ish team that have impressed with a roster full of heavy throwers. The Fitness Flingers are a team to look out for, and winning L tier may just be a jumping off point for a team that could take serious strides in the near future.
Pushy the CDL Party Penguin’s Pick- If spirit won championships, the Heartseekers would win every tier… But it doesn’t, so Team Spike!!
Dark Horse- POCO sneaks in there and brings the coveted title all the way back to Shaunnesy.
D is for Party Tier
Empire Strikes Balls (3) def. Here for the Beer (7)
Here for the Beer is the most improved team in the CDL (or so they tell me). After years of representing L tier, this party dynasty made a massive jump up in competition this year. Despite a Cinderella season, the Beers run into an extremely experienced Empire team that is playing in their lowest tier in a long time. Expect their previous experience to shine through, as they clear out the rebel bases on Hoth.
Pushy’s Pick- Snizzle Dizzle hits all the other plizzles with their bizzles en rizzle to winning this chizzle.
Darkhorse- Blood Sweat and Beers- Despite being bumped up late in the season, Blood Sweat and Beers have looked good over the past few weeks. They won a Golden Dodgeball last season, and are proven playoff performers
C is for Party Tier
Monstars (1) def. Mr. Men and Little Miss (3)
The fact that Monstars are in C tier is a testament to how good the teams are this season. This one of the longest lasting teams in the organization that has won B tier and finished 2nd in A tier in the past. Mr. Men and Little Miss have won more titles in the past 2 seasons than any other current team has won in their franchise history. Expect this to be one of the most exciting final rounds in the tournament, but Mr. Men and Little Miss’ luck has to run out eventually!
Pushy’s Pick- Beast Mode… but only because I want to jinx Evan (not that he needs it!)
Darkhorse- Chill Town. Not much of a darkhorse here as every team in this division is dangerous and could win. Est. 2014, these guys have been the Chillest team in town.
B Tier
Bayside Tigers (1) def. Alec Balls Win (4)
Having one of the best team names in the league can get you pretty far… about second place. Alec Balls have flown under the radar, but have been an extremely impressive team all season. That said, the Bayside Tigers have the best girls in the tier if not the entire league (their guys aren’t too shabby neither!) Unless they are playing against the elite of A tier, I pick the Tigers over anyone!
Pushy’s Pick- The Supervillains have an extremely talented and experienced team. They are well-rounded, highly spirited and are hungry to take home that first championship. (hail hydra)
Darkhorse- Gotta Catch’em All almost won two different tiers last season. While they still haven’t tasted a championship, they inch closer and closer every year. They may be at the bottom of this tier, but when firing on all cylinders they can win a series against anyone here.
A Tier
50 Shades of Gains (5) def. #Oh No Shih Didn’t (3)
After winning A tier last season, Oh No Shih Didn’t looks to be in great position in this year’s playoffs. They are the perfect balance of extremely talented individuals and fantastic team play. There was a period when 50 Shades were the frontrunners to win the championship every season. While that time seems to have passed, I believe that 50 Shades will thrive in their newfound role of underdog. Without the pressure of being the team that’s supposed to win, expect Gains to really let their arms go, and overwhelm all-comers en route to a long-sought after return to the top.
Pushy’s Pick- He’s Heating Up. It’s been almost a whole year since Vallance has won a championship. While some suggest that he may never overcome the shadow left behind from his Bye Week days, this could finally be the season that he returns to that glory. Hopefully Spiro doesn’t screw it up!
Darkhorse- Hump Day. A combination of the 2nd and 3rd best teams in Surrey probably isn’t enough to win in Coquitlam. Still, the entire league is pulling hard for Brad Deslauriers, the only season 1 vet to still never win a tier ( I don’t know if that’s true).
