Top Ten Reasons why the CDL is the Best
Welcome to the first instalment of N2’s Top Ten, where I will be ranking and ordering anything related to dodgeball. It’s been a long off season and I know a lot of people have been chomping at the bit to get back into some CDL league play. But just in case you needed a little extra motivation to get going for the new season, allow me to remind you of the top ten reasons why the CDL is the Best
10. Releasing the inner child- Let’s not fool ourselves here people… dodgeball is a kids game and I mean that as the highest compliment. But while you may have long packed up the Ninja Turtles, GI Joes or Glow-worms (not that I ever had a Glowworm) you never need to pack up your love for your favourite elementary P.E class game. Besides, it’s way too cold for 4 square right now.
9. Technically, it’s exercise- One of these things is not like the others. Running, sit-ups, plyometrics, hip hop abs, Dodgeball. That’s right, dodgeball is awesome and the rest of these things suck.
8. Cause it’s cheap and you’re broke- Not counting all the extra-curricular activities and events that come with registration fees, each 90 minute session of dodgeball during our 12 works out to being around $5 per person. Compare that with the following: Single Movie Ticket- $12, Evening of Bowling- $13, Dinner for one- $20 plus cost of loneliness. Ladies and gentleman we have our winner. (Author’s note: math and actual prices are subject to me only kind of knowing what I’m talking about)
7. We have a sweet song- 6 words (3 if you don’t count C, D and L) and it perfectly explains what we’re all about. I’m still waiting for my Grammy in the mail for this one.
CDL Extravaganza
6. An Excuse for mid-week drinking- The weekly post dodgeball socials at our sponsor bar, Rhino’s are great in case you need an excuse to be at the bar until midnight on a school/worknight. It’s always ok if there’s around 50 other people doing it every week with you.
5. Re-live the glory days- Used to be the highschool quarterback? Maybe an ace baseball pitcher who never quite made “the show?” That’s ok, here you can still act like a big shot, and we’ll love you for who you are.
4. Dodgeball is easier than life- School can suck, work can drag on, and at the end of the day you just need to throw something at someone. That’s ok, we’re here for you.
3. What else are you going to do on a Wednesday night?- No seriously, cause I got nothing
2. It’s a great place to meet guys or girls- Aside from the hideous trolls who run it, the CDL is easily the best looking rec league for any sport in all of BC. (seriously, look it up). Way to be beautiful CDL!!!
1. Every week is Halloween!!- Ninjas, Pirates, Muppets, Wildlife, Pokemon, we’ve had it all here in the CDL. So get your buddies together, pick a (hilarious) theme, and have at it!!
